5-Day Mysore Travel Itinerary - Option 1
Mysore, officially Mysuru, is a city in Karnataka, India, known as the "City of Palaces" and the "Cultural Capital of Karnataka" for its rich heritage, palaces, and vibrant culture, including the famous Mysore Palace.
Day 1: Arrival & City Orientation
Arrive in Mysore and check into your hotel. After settling in, take an evening stroll around the city center and Devaraja Market to get a feel for local life, spices, and flowers. Visit the illuminated Mysore Palace if it is a designated lighting day, and enjoy a relaxed dinner nearby.

Day 2: Palaces & Heritage
Start with a guided tour of Mysore Palace, exploring its ornate halls and royal artifacts. Continue to Jaganmohan Palace & Art Gallery to see traditional paintings and sculptures. In the afternoon, visit St. Philomena’s Cathedral and walk along heritage streets, picking up local handicrafts and sandalwood products.
Day 3: Chamundi Hills & Gardens
Head to Chamundi Hill early to visit Chamundeshwari Temple and enjoy panoramic views of Mysore. Stop at the giant Nandi statue on the way down. In the afternoon, explore Brindavan Gardens and its musical fountain show after sunset. Return to your hotel or dine at a rooftop restaurant with palace views.
Day 4: Srirangapatna & Cultural Experiences
Take a half-day trip to Srirangapatna, the historic capital of Tipu Sultan. Visit Daria Daulat Bagh, Gumbaz, and the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple. Back in Mysore, attend an evening classical music or dance performance if available, or join a short cooking class to learn basic Karnataka dishes.
Day 5: Shopping & Departure
Spend your final morning shopping for Mysore silk sarees, sandalwood products, and local sweets like Mysore Pak. Visit any missed attractions or relax at a café before checking out. Depart from Mysore with ample time for your train, bus, or flight connections.

Day 1: Arrival in Mysore :
- Arrive in Mysore by train or flight. Check into your hotel and relax. Visit Mysore Palace in the evening (illuminated on Sundays and holidays). Explore Devaraja Market for local shopping. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 2: Mysore Sightseeing :
- Visit Chamundi Hill & Chamundeshwari Temple for morning views. Explore Sri Nandi Bull Statue on the way down. Visit Jaganmohan Palace Art Gallery & St. Philomena's Church. Evening at Brindavan Gardens with a musical fountain show.
Day 3: Srirangapatna & Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary :

Day 4: : Day Trip to Bandipur / Kabini :
- Early morning drive to Bandipur National Park for a jungle safari. Alternatively, visit Kabini Wildlife Sanctuary for a river safari. Return to Mysore by evening.
Day 5 : Local Exploration & Departure :
- Visit Railway Museum or Lalitha Mahal Palace. Explore Melukote (if time permits) before departing.
